Perpetually Blinded by High Diabetes, Ravjee Gets Relieved from the Pain in his Eyes after His Treatment in India

Mrs. Manette Narrates their visit to India for Mr. Ravjee's medical treatment:

In his 50s Mr. Ravjee from Zimbabwe not only suffered from high Diabetes but was also blinded by it. His optic nerve got damaged due to Type 1 Diabetes that not only rendered him a life of darkness but also a constant and acute pain and pressure in his eyes.

“I had diabetes for a long time. Initially there was no such effect on my eyes but as it increased, I became blind. Doctors in Zimbabwe told me that my optic nerve has been severely damaged and that they can do nothing about it. I will never be able to see again”, said he.

His wife looked for treatments outside Fiji and found Vaidam Health over the internet. “I went through their website and thought they were reliable. The other patient’s testimonials in it made me think that these people are genuine”, said his wife Mrs. Manette.

As his eyesight could not be brought back again due to diabetic retinopathy, he underwent a surgery so as to recover from the pain and pressure that he experienced. “Out of the hospitals Vaidam recommended to me, I chose Medanta - the Medicity Hospital in Gurgaon, where my surgery was done by Dr. Digvijay Singh under the guidance of Dr. Sudipto Pakrasi. Vaidam also took me to another doctor for a second opinion and it was helpful as well”, said Mr. Ravjee.

Mr. Ravjee and Mrs. Manette stayed in India for two weeks. The elderly couple also visited Ambience Mall in Gurgaon. “It was the day before our departure that we thought we would like to stay a bit longer in the country, but didn’t know whether it would be possible or not. Vaidam helped us to get our visa extended”, smiled Ravjee Soma.

From now on, Mr. Ravjee has to live on the medications prescribed by Dr. Digvijay Singh and Dr. Sudipto Pakrashi and have to do rigorous sugar control. “We pay our gratitude to both the doctors. The treatment was extraordinary. Through the treatment the pain in both of his eyes has reduced. The optic nerve in his right eye is still in a better condition than the left one so we are hopeful that he may at least get a percentage of eyesight back”, said Mrs. Manette. “After this treatment I pray that soon I will see some light”, added Mr. Ravjee.

Before going away they also showered their gratitude on Vaidam Health. “The patient manager of Vaidam was always with us. They took us to the correct doctors and provided us with proper interpretations whenever we needed it. They used to check-up on us almost daily so that we don’t face any trouble during our stay in India. There’s nothing they don’t do for you. The whole experience in India with Vaidam, the hospital and the doctors was really good”.
