Okie Fanny is a 32 years old woman from Cameroon, who was diagnosed with cervical cancer when she consulted a doctor for severe pain.
“I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in June last year after I consulted the doctor for severe pain. As advised, even after taking the chemotherapy sessions, the pain was still there and very severe”.
Cervical cancer occurs in the cells of the cervix. The cervix is the lower part of the uterus connecting to the vagina. The signs and symptoms may include bleeding in the vagina after intercourse or anything between the periods, or even after menopause. There may be watery and blood-filled vaginal discharge and pelvic pain.
When the pain was not relieved, she decided to visit India for better treatment. Hence, she started looking for the best oncologists in India. When she came across the website of Vaidam Health, she posted a query. In a short while, she received a call back from a case manager. The case manager, Aditi Sabharwal then shared her reports with the best oncology hospitals in India and got the hospital opinions with a cost estimate. She also shared the profiles of the best oncology hospitals and doctors in India with Okie. Ultimately, Okie decided to visit Dharamshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, New Delhi.
Okie was assisted in the entire process visa application. The case manager arranged the Visa Invitation Letter from the hospital and medical visa was applied online by another team member. Okie received her visa with 72 hours of the application. Finally, she arrived in India on March 3rd 2019. At the airport, she was received by another team member and taken to the hotel. Her hotel was booked before her arrival as per her preferences.
A day after her arrival, Okie’s appointment was scheduled with Dr. Satinder Kaur. She heard her patiently and examined her clinically. Then she ordered a few more investigations to make the final diagnosis. The cancer diagnosis was confirmed and Okie was treated for cervical cancer. Today Okie is doing fine with her everyday life. She has been recovering well. When asked about her experience in India, she said, “ I had a pleasant time in India. All my queries were answered. The team was available to me all the time.”
