Ashika Devi Singh narrates her medical trip to India and how she recovered from her severe abdominal pain:
Ashika Singh from Fiji Islands experienced chronic pain in her lower abdomen for several months. The reason for such a condition was not known initially. But doctors at Fiji recommended her the removal of her ovary. Though she received proper diagnosis, Ashika was in no way for the ovary removal surgery. Here she shares her story and what happened next:
What problem did you have?
I was suffering from severe pain in my abdomen. And the pain increased over time. I took a lot of medicines and was on medication before I came to India. Those were very high dose medicines but that didn’t help at all. I really lost all hope.

What did the local doctors in Fiji diagnose?
The doctors in Fiji told me to have an ovary removal surgery. That really freaked me out because whatever the case maybe, I cannot let any part of my body be just cut off. It was a terrifying suggestion and I just didn’t have the surgery. I even asked them as well as the doctors in here in India whether there is any way by which I can have an ovary transplant, but sadly, that was not possible since there is no such procedure.
Where did you have your treatment in India?
In India I had my treatment in BLK Hospital in New Delhi. Amongst the doctors that Vaidam had recommended to me, I chose Dr. Dinesh Kansal. I feel she understood what I was going through and made me understand the whole treatment procedure and that everything will be fine. I was actually counseled before my treatment started.
So what exactly was the cause of your abdomen pain?
I had multiple adhesions. My fallopian tube and ovary got stuck with my intestine and medications could not treat that. A surgery was necessary.
What did Dr. Kansal suggest you?
Dr. Kansal told me to have an oophorectomy (ovary removal surgery) because there was no other way to treat my ailment. And after the counseling and after she guided me and made me understand the pros and cons of the surgery, I gave in. I finally had the surgery.
How do you feel post your surgery?
I feel relieved. For a long time I have suffered so much pain but now I am really happy that I had this surgery done. I would really like to thank Dr. Kansal and Vaidam because I think without their constant support I could never have managed to gather the courage to do it.
How did you come across Vaidam Health?
It was my friend who had dropped an enquiry in their website. My friend needed a knee replacement but my condition was so deplorable that she insisted the patient manager to contact me first. So, after I received a call and talked to the patient manager I thought there is some hope for me.
Did you like Vaidam’s services?
Yes. I absolutely do. They were very supportive. From the moment I started interacting with them, they provided me with several treatment options, doctors and hospitals. I trusted my patient manager even more because she herself is a doctor. When me and my husband reached India, they were waiting for us at the airport. They gave me a nice accommodation near the hospital. My patient manager accompanied me to the hospital and provided me with medicines and follow-ups. They have also organized a trip for me and my husband to Agra. We are going to see the Taj Mahal. Actually they are like friends who are by your side. I have even gifted a T-shirt to my patient manager. She was lovely.
How was your experience at BLK Hospital?
It was very good. The hospital’s infrastructure and patient care facilities were very nice. The staff, the doctors and the nurses are very well organized and helpful. I stayed in the hospital for four days. The whole experience was really good.
Was the travel comfortable?
Yes it was comfortable. Thankfully I didn’t face much problem in the visa application too.
