It all started in January 2019 when Gladys Lovell from Zimbabwe was on a morning walk with her granddaughter. She started feeling sharp pain in chest and shortness of breath. It was difficult for her to breath and she stopped to catch her breath. After a few minutes she was fine but her granddaughter insisted to head back to home. Thinking that it may get worse, she agreed.
After a few days, she faced the same episode. On the way back to the house, the pain in chest became worse. She was thinking that it was due to brisk walking. Rather than going to the hospital, she thought that she would rest and feel better. Within 30 minutes, the pain was gone and she was fine like nothing had happened.
It wasn’t until the following week while she was walking that pain returned. This time her granddaughter encouraged her to see the doctor and she agreed, knowing that something was wrong. “I don’t smoke and follow a healthy diet but I a had hard time breathing. I thought I am suffering from any lungs problem”, said Gladys.
Gladys’s Tests and Diagnosis
Gladys’s doctor recommended Cardiac echocardiography. She wasn’t able to understand why that was necessary. “I asked my doctor that I have breathing problem and pain in the chest. I explained that I experience acute chest pain even at rest”, said Gladys. “Doctor explained that the heart is an important part so we need to start from there”.
The doctor performed Cardiac echocardiograph that would help to reveal how the heart functions. The reports showed no serious heart condition. Concerned about the test results, Gladys decided to get the second opinion. She started looking for options online and stumble upon Vaidam. She sent her query which was answered within 24 hours.
After discussing her case with Vaidam’s executive, she shared her reports. She was provided with the list of the best cardiology hospitals in India and she decided to go with Artemis Hospital, Gurgaon. Her appointment was booked for 5th March and all the arrangements such as medical visa and accommodation were taken care by Vaidam.
Gladys’ Procedure
Her appointment was fixed with one of the experienced cardiologists in India – Dr. MS Sandhu. “I explained that I haven’t experienced chest pain or shortness of breath at any point. After going through the reports of Gladys, Dr. Sandhu suggested Angioplasty. He prescribed a few medicines and asked to come for follow-up if symptoms persist.
Gladys has started making changes to her life, including low-fat diet and taking prescribed medicine on time. “Fortunately, I didn’t ignore my body and consulted Dr. MS Sandhu on time”, said Gladys. “The competency of Vaidam and team was awe- inspiring. The work you guys do is important and you excel in it every way possible. Big thanks to ops-executive who took me for shopping. I have visited some historical places as well, traveled in three-wheelers – they say it auto and had applied henna tattoo on my hand. Loved it.“
Vaidam Health wishes her a healthy and happy life ahead.
