I am Cyril Bell Hartwell from Sierra Leone. I am 79 years old.
What kind of problems did you have?
My problem started with a Urinary Tract Infection, which got worse with time. Recently, I was diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Urinary Syndrome. I lost muscle control for urination. I also felt weakness and loss of appetite. I was recommended to have immediate surgery. Since there are limited resources in Sierra Leone, I decided to visit India for my treatment.
How did you choose the hospital for your checkup?
While I was looking for the best urologists in India, somebody told me about Vaidam Health. I posted a query on their website and received a call back from one of their case managers, Heena Mehta. She helped me with the list of topmost doctors and their profiles. She also got me hospital opinions and associated quotes.
How was your visit to India arranged?
After I decided to visit the BLK Hospital in New Delhi, the case manager helped me to get the Visa Invitation Letter from the hospital. The visa application process was also done by the Vaidam team. I only had to give my information. Other than this, the accommodation was arranged by the team as per my preferences. My pickup and drop off from the airport was also arranged by team members. They facilitated my trip very smoothly.
What was your experience at the hospital?
After I arrived in India, I was picked up from the airport and my appointment was scheduled with Dr Surender Dabas. He took a detailed medical history and heard me patiently. My physical examination was carried out and I was sent for further investigations. After the reports came back, the doctor told me prostate cancer and advised me to get a surgery called Robotic Prostatectomy. Finally, on a scheduled date, the surgery was performed successfully. Later, I was kept in the hospital for a few days.
Since I felt remarkable improvement, I also decided to consult a gastroenterologist. I also got the surgical treatment for hernia.
How was your overall experience?
My entire medical visit at the hospital went on smoothly. The hospital staff and the Vaidam team assisted me in everything and were quite reliable. I am grateful to them.
