34 years old Md. Zahedul Islam from Bangladesh had been suffering from severe snoring issues for a long time. When he came to know about high-quality treatment in India at affordable costs, he decided to come to India.
The journey before arrival in India
While exploring the internet, he stumbled upon the website of Vaidam Health. He posted his query and got a call from one of the case managers, Mahima Chaurasia. His preference being Chennai, Mahima shared his reports with some of the best ENT hospitals in Chennai. Mr. Zahid received the opinions from different hospitals with the cost estimate. Finally, he settled to visit Apollo Hospital, Chennai.
This was followed by the initiation of the paperwork needed. The case manager arranged the Visa Invitation Letter from the hospital needed to get the medical eVisa. Another Vaidam team member did the visa application. Within a span of 72 hours, the patient received a visa on his email Id.
Experience in the hospital
After he reached in India on 22nd March, he was received by a member of the operations team and taken to his hotel, which was booked before his arrival. On a scheduled time, he went to meet Dr. Prasanna Thomas, a Senior ENT consultant at the hospital. The doctor took a detailed case history including any other past or present medical illnesses or family history related to his problem. He also ordered some further investigations to rule out the exact cause of snoring. These investigations included some routine blood analysis, radio-imaging tests, and polysomnography.
Polysomnography aka, a sleep study is a test used to diagnose sleep-related disorders, which records the parameters like brain waves, oxygen levels in the blood, heart rate, breathing rate along with eye and leg movements during the study.
Diagnosis and the treatment
After the reports came, it was revealed that he was overweight and suffering from severe apnea and hypoxia while sleeping. This meant that his breathing would stop and start again at regular intervals while sleeping along with lack of oxygen. After a detailed evaluation of the reports, he was recommended to use an auto CPAP machine regularly while sleeping to help with breathing and maintain the oxygen levels.
Md. Zahedul Islam Zahid was very happy with his consultation and recommendations. When contacted recently, his symptoms were relieved to a large extent. He was grateful to the Vaidam team and the hospital for all the arrangements.
