Sometime back, when Aissatou started having pain in her knees while walking down the street, she suspected something was wrong. However, she preferred to take pain medication and get back to work. It was only after a few days when the pain recurred with much more intensity, she realised how important it was to consult an orthopedician. The doctor examined her meticulously and gave her medications. When her pain did not go away even after taking the medication for a long time, she decided to visit India to get a permanent solution.
The decision to visit India
Consequently, Aissatou started a quest to find the best doctor for her pain. Due to limited medical resources in her own nation, she preferred to come to India. She called Vaidam Health to speed up the process. The case manager helped her find some of the best orthopaedic hospitals in India for her problem. Ultimately, she decided to approach Artemis hospital, Gurgaon. Soon, all her documents were filed and arrangements were made by the team for her arrival in India. She arrived on 23rd June 2019, after which she was taken from the airport to the hotel. Next day, her appointment was booked with Dr IPS Oberoi.
Appointment with the doctor
On the day of the appointment, Dr Oberoi met her and exchanged an assuring gesture, which already made her feel better. He took detailed case history from Aissatou. He conducted all the physical examinations and radiological examinations. After receiving the reports, the doctor came to the conclusion that she would need Total Knee replacement as the joints were badly damaged and there was no other option to reverse the condition. She had no idea about her condition before this. Hence, she was stunned when the doctor gave his opinion. However, after Dr IPS counselled her and explained the situation in detail, she was able to register it. With her consent, the surgery was performed on a scheduled date.
Recovery
On the day of the surgery, all the pre-operative tests were carried out. She was pacified by the staff members. After the surgery, the patient was shifted to the ward. She was made to stay in the hospital for a few days to recover from the surgery. After her recovery, she was pain-free and very happy with her treatment. She was given the essential post-surgery instructions and discharged from the hospital.
Aissatou Sali was extremely grateful to Vaidam Health and the hospital for the entire services. She said, “When your knee hurts, all you yearn for is able to walk freely without pain”.
