Watch how Agnes Mumbi underwent a successful brain tumour surgery:
Agnes Mumbi lives in Nairobi, Kenya. A self-sufficient woman, Agnes’s work is to beautify people. She is a beautician. She led her life comfortably until two years ago, in 2014, she got to know that she has brain tumour. Dismayed and sad she knew not what to do. Finally, she came to India for her treatment.
When did you come to know that you have brain tumour?
It was in 2014, I used to have headaches. At first I thought it was nothing to be serious about, but with time, it aggravated. I couldn’t concentrate on my work, felt nauseated. I couldn’t see properly. When I went to one of the local doctors in Nairobi, I was told that I have brain tumour and I have to undergo a brain surgery for it. My whole world crashed down in front of my eyes. I was terrified and scared.
What alternative did you seek then?
I depended on medicines. I thought maybe the medicines can help me out and gradually the tumour may be cured. But that didn’t help. It was such a bad time I went through. I didn’t feel confident enough to even receive an injection and there they suggested a surgery.
Where did you receive your treatment in India?
I received my treatment at FMRI (Fortis Memorial Research Institute) in Gurgaon, Delhi. Dr. Sandeep Vaishya did my surgery.
How was your medical treatment in India?
It was very good. Dr.Vaishya was very supportive. He told me that the tumour has to be removed else it may turn out to be fatal. And he is a very good surgeon. I think FMRI is the best hospital. It has all the modern equipment and the rooms are clean. They provide excellent patient care. They made me feel so comfortable. After my treatment I felt so relieved that I thought that, now, I have got my life back.
How many days did you stay in India?
Around 15 days. I was there in the hospital for four days and then the rest of the days I had spent in my hotel and went for shopping and sightseeing. Thanks to Dr. Vaishya that I recovered so fast else I couldn’t have imagined to go for shopping after my brain tumour surgery.
How did you find Vaidam Health?
I found Vaidam Health through the Internet. They took my case to several doctors and gave several options for my treatment.
Did you find the services of Vaidam to be helpful?
Yes, of course I did. They were the ones because of whom I found my doctor. I must say they are very patient and gentle. They listened to the problems I had and suggested doctors and hospitals to me, arranged an accommodation, accompanied me to the hospital during my treatment. They are very nice and trustworthy people who guided and supported me throughout. They took me to a few malls and shopping complexes and even arranged a one day Delhi tour. So, I recovered as well as enjoyed a lot in my medical travel. Thanks to Vaidam.
