A team of ENT specialists at the Indira Gandhi Insitute of Medical Sciences performed the hour-long surgery involving the implantation of the bone bridge in the right ear of the seven-year-old child. The implant was placed beneath the skin in the right ear of the child.
The child was suffering from the congenital disease in which both ears were deformed.
Dr. Rakesh Singh, head of ENT Department at IGIMS, said, "The normal person should have below 20-decibel hearing level. The child had 80-decibel conductive hearing loss, which means he was suffering from hearing impairment."
The child's father, Sanjiv Kumar Pandey, said the expert hands of surgeons and RBSK (Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram), a government of India program, helped revert his son's health status.
