A live heart was transported from Aurangabad to Mumbai covering distance of 323 kilometers in one and thirty-four minutes and was successfully transplanted into 4-year-old girl.
As per hospital’s statement, the live heart of 13-year-old boy, who died in road accident, was retrieved in MGM Hospital, Aurangabad on Friday. It left for airport at 1:50 PM. Covering the distance of 4.8 KMs in 4 minutes, the heart reached the airport at 1:54 PM, thanks to green corridor set in the place. The operation was successful and the girl, a resident of Jalna, was under observation.
The heart was brought to Mumbai airport in a chartered flight at 3:05 PM and was rushed to Fortis Hospital, Mulund 18 kilometers away in 19 minutes, via a green corridor.
“The heart reached Fortis at 3:24 PM i.e., one hour and thirty-four minutes after being retrieved in Aurangabad,” Fortis officials said on Saturday.
