Just beside one of the two mobile phones, the laptop screen flashed several patient details. On the other was a constant conversation between a patient and a very simple, outspoken and hardworking doctor. Meet Dr. Amarroop Nain, our Patient Relationship Lead at Vaidam Health whom we lovingly call Amar.
Whether in simple traditional outfits or loose casual shirts, with her short pony tail she makes each day count. Her day starts at 6 o’clock in the morning preparing her daughter for school and breakfast for her family. Then she rushes to Vaidam Health’s office and as always is the first one around.
“It is very challenging to gain a person’s trust, especially when you know that they are thousands of miles away. In such a case skepticism is justified,” said Amar. According to her the first one minute is the most important minute during a phone call. It is because in that one minute one has to gain a patient’s trust and attention.
But she also reassures that the job of a patient manager is not always as serious as it sounds. It has its elements of fun too. “There has been quite a few funny moments while attending the patients. One of them even mistook my name Amarroop to be ‘Amazing’. Though that was just a mistake, I took it as a compliment and was utterly flattered,” she giggles.
And it’s not only limited to her name. In a Whatsapp conversation with one of the patients, she got the details of his local address while she had just asked for his mail id. In another case, when she asked for a picture of one of the patient’s passport details, she received an inverted mirror image of the passport that was obviously illegible. “I had to make her understand that she was taking the picture from the wrong angle. It was awkward but that’s ok. I am always there to help,” said she.
She loves her job. “I cannot work under stress. At Vaidam Health I get the work space that I need. Working here I can actually balance my personal and professional life,” said Amar.
She also appreciates her colleagues at Vaidam Health, “Everyone here is smart, hardworking and knows their stuff. I have had taken patient calls and have followed up with my team members even at mid nights, because some patients had that urgency. My team stands beside me, always!”
She is proud of the way we are executing the whole concept of Vaidam Health – to serve people who want high quality and cost effective medical treatment.
A simple yet dynamic woman, Amarroop knows her priorities and how to strike a balance. The things that bring her peace are a good conversation and that she has been successful in completing all the responsibilities of a mother, a wife and a trustworthy advisor to patients by the end of the day.
