About Hospital
- Soon Chun Hyang University Hospital – Cheonan is a leading super-specaility, tertiary-care hospital of the central region of Korea and was founded in 1982. In its 38 years of existence, the hospital has some firsts to its credit, viz; it became the first among Korea's university hospitals to start free onsite cancer education in 2001. In 2011, the hospital opened the first day clinic of the region, followed by the first hospital in the country to launch 8-channel multi-detect spiral CT in 2003.
- In its first two decades of operations, the hospital was deisgnated as an internship institute for medical technicians, as a training facility for millitary and also for certified personnel for mental healthcare.
- Some of its important milestones include, being designated as the Occupational Environment Measurement Institute, a dedicated ward for cancer patients with aseptic ward, introducing the 4th generation extracorporeal shock wave lithotriptor, specialised hospital for diabetes among others.
- It has also added many specialities over the years such as gastroenterology, PET-CT, developing surgical treatment for funnel chest with a transilluminated introducer, speical emergency diseases, testing service on development of premature infants and stroke among a few others.
- It has a registered patent on treatment for Pectus Carinatum (pigeon breast).
