About Hospital

• Yeouido St. Mary's Hospital was established on 11 May, 1936 with four doctors focusing on internal medicine and paediatrics. After 80 years, it has progressively evolved and expanded itself, responding to the medical needs of the environment and aiming to become a "patient-centered futuristic hospital." In 2010, its name was changed to the Catholic University of Korea Yeouido St. Mary's Hospital. The Catholic University Yeouido St. Mary's Hospital is Korea Catholic's first formal hospital.
• The Hospital is multidisciplinary with 31 Clinical departments and 15 Care Centres. Through its spiritual inclination, it offers a holistic treatment and medical service. It therefore, has a comprehensive system of care from beginning of life to the end.
• In 2011, it acquired the medical institution certificate from the Ministry of Health and Welfare for the first time.
• In 2015, the One Hospital System in which Yeouido St. Mary's Hospital and Seoul St. Mary's Hospital become one hospital was introduced. This integrates an operation model of secondary & tertiary hospitals in Korea for the first time. This means they treat more severe conditions requiring specialised knowledge and more intensive health monitoring.
• It was also designated as a hospice palliative medical institution by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in 2016.
• In 2017, it saw the birth of the first baby using the NaPro pregnancy method in Korea. The NaPro pregnancy method assists natural pregnancy with medication or surgery by identifying hormonal changes during menstrual cycle. In the same year, it was designated as a medical institution for Canadian visa issuing physical examination.
• It has a Health Promotion Centre which offers an all-inclusive package health programme.
• The Catholic University of Korea Yeouido St. Mary's Hospital has an International Healthcare Center opened in February 2013 providing total care to foreign patients with accurate medical services and a team of dedicated personnel. It also signed an MoU with the Seoul Metropolitan City in 2010 striving to facilitate convenience to foreign patients.
• It is also the official medical institution for medical examinations on cancer screening and physical examination for visa issuance to countries namely, USA, Canada, Spain, Iraq, and Vietnam.
