Arthroscopy Hospitals in India

What is arthroscopy?

Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique which is performed on patients having arthritis and osteoarthritis. It includes an examination along with treatment of the damage of the damaged joints by inserting an arthroscope through a small incision. The surgical instrument used in this technique is much smaller and handy than the ones used in the traditional technique. Surgeons view the damaged joint with the help of a video monitor.        

On which joints are an arthroscopy preformed?

An arthroscopy is performed on knee, hip, wrist, shoulder, spine and temporomandibular joints (joint of the jaw).

In which cases will you need an arthroscopy?

An arthroscopy is required for the following:

Knee: Treating meniscus injury, reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament and for cartilage microfracturing 

Hip: Femoroacetabular impingement and its associated pathologies, labral tears, loose or foreign body removal, hip washout or biopsy, chondral lesions, osteochondritis dissecans, ligamentum teres injuries, Iliopsoas tendinopathy, troachan teric pain syndrome, snapping iliotibial band, osteoarthritis, sciatic nerve compression, isciofemoral impingement and direct assessment of hip replacement.  

Shoulder: subacromial impingement, acromioclavcular osteoarthritis, rotator cuff tears, frozen shoulder, chronic tendonitis, removal of loose bodies and partial tears of the long bicep tendons, SLAP lesions, and shoulder instability.

Wrist: repetitive strain injury, fractured wrists, torn or damaged ligaments of the wrists, joint damage caused by wrist osteoarthritis.

Spine: spinal disc herniation and degenerative discs, spinal deformities, tumors, general spine trauma

Is the infrastructure of the arthroscopy hospitals in India up to the mark?
