Bariatric surgery is on the stomach or intestines to help a person with extreme obesity lose weight. These surgeries are also commonly known as weight lose surgery.

Which tests/ investigations are generally required by the obesity & bariatric Surgeon?

The patients are required to undergo blood test to determine sugar levels, cholesterol levels, thyroid, kidney and liver function test.

What is the minimum age and weight for the bariatric surgery?

Age should be between 16 and 70 year and morbidly obese (weighing at least 100 pounds over your ideal body weight and having a BMI of 40).

How much weight do you lose in the first month after the gastric bypass surgery?

Patient is expected to lose about 80% of the excess fat over a period of 6 months from the surgery.

Is bariatric surgery painful?
