Services provided by him includes catheterising all varieties of complex congenital heart disease, percutaneous balloon dilatation for mitral, aortic and tricuspid valve stenosis, percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasties (PTCA), including PTCA in evolving acute myocardial infarction and PTCA with percutaneous cardiopulmonary support.and many more. Throughout his career, he has performed over 25,000 cardiac catheterization and interventional operations on his own.
He earned his MBBS from Kilpauk Medical College in Chennai in 1977, his MD from Stanley Medical College & Hospital in Chennai in 1981, and his DNB from the National Board Of Examination in 1987.
Dr. Murthy has extensive teaching experience, having taught the DM (Cardiology) programme at Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute since 1994. He is Vice-Chancellor and Professor of Cardiology at this institution.
