- This new procedure involves the transfer of uteri from a healthy donor to the recipient.
- The two women's donors are their mothers.
- Among the two patients, while one suffers from Asherman's syndrome, the other does not have a uterus.
- Post transplant, the donor and the recipient undergoes screening procedures.
- After the successful womb transplantation, the patients conceive through IVF and deliver babies through Caesarean-section.
- The patients have to take immuno-suppressants for life so that rejection of the donor uterus is prevented.
