A new study by the researchers of the Kumamoto University in Japan has claimed that the a natural compound when seperated from onions may help cure ovarian cancer.
In both in vivo and in vitro conditions the presymptomatic model of epithelial ovarian cancer was observed by the researchers of the university so as to notice the effects of onion in A (ONA) on it. The results previously showed that the ONA suppressed the inception of pro-tumours of the host myeloid cells.
As far as WHO is concerned, EOC is the most prevalent type of cancer inflicting the victims with only a five year life span. Statistically, the survival rates of ovarian cancer stands at a meagre 40%, said the researchers.
Under in vitro exeriments, the EOCs showed a lesser growth after ONA was introduced. The researchers study also find that ONA not only restricted the tumour forming nature of the myeloid-derived suppressor cells but also enhance the effects of anti-cancer drugs by increasing their anti-proliferation capabilities.
