- The cost range of knee implants in India have been slashed down by nearly 70 per cent of what the surgeries cost currently.
- Price range of knee impants has been fixed between Rs. 54,000 (USD 842) and Rs. 1.14 lakh (USD 1,777).
- According to the Government of India, knee surgery cases in the country amount to about 1.5 lakh annually.
- With a 65 per cent cut down in its original price, the widely used cobalt-chromium knee implant now costs Rs.54,720 (USD 853) as against Rs. 1,58,324 (USD 2,468).
- Prices of metal titanium and oxidised zicronium implants have undergone 69 per cent of a reduction from Rs. 2,49,251 (USD 3,885) to Rs. 76,600 (USD 1,194) along with high flexibility implant whose cost has been now fixed to Rs. 54,490 (USD 850).
- Revision knee implants have also witnessed 59 per cent cut in its prices costing Rs 1,13,950 (USD 1,776 ). Earlier average MRP was Rs 2,76,869 (USD 4,316).
- The ongoing prices of specialized implants used for cancer and tumor treatment have also been steeply reduced from Rs. 4 - 9 lakh (USD 6,235 - 14,028) to Rs 1,13,950 (USD 1,776).
